The capital in restored Nara

The capital was established in Heijokyo, Nara before the Heiankyo, Kyoto in 710.
The city learned from Changan, the capital of Tang. It is said that about 200,000 peoplewere living.
In ancient city Nara,
there are Todaiji, Shosoin of Todaiji,@Toshodaiji,@Yakushiji,@Kofukuji,@Gankoji,@
Kasuga Taisha,@Kasugayama Primeval Forest,@The remains of Heijokyo.

Todaiji
Emperor Shomu is the peak in Kokubunji made all over the country.
Great Buddha was awakened in 752.
Hall of the Great Buddha is the frontage of 57m, the depth of 50m, and 47m of ridge quantities.
The Todaiji Hall of the Great Buddha is the largest wooden structure thing in the world.
The height of Great Buddha (Rusyanabutu) is the height of about 15m and 3m or more plinth and the weight of estimated 380t.
A metal called copper, tin, gold, and mercury is used.
Moreover, it is said that a little more than 2,600,000 persons were engaged in the Great Buddha construction, and it is one person in two of people of those days.
However, the Hall of the Great Buddha suffered the damage by the big fire of 2 times.
For the restoration, the portions of four times, Nara, Kamakura, the Warring period, and Edo has overlapped to present Great Buddha.

Shosoin
The treasure of WestAsia,India and China passing through the Silk Road is dedicated.
Therefore, it is also called the terminal point of the Silk Road.
The building method is the way of building which accumulates the lumber of a triangle called Azekuradukuri by turns, and goes.
The bottom of a floor is supported by 40 thick round piller with a diameter of 60cm, and has a height of no less than 2.7m.


Toshodai-ji
It was built in 759. The noted priest of Tang, Ganjin priest arrived at Japan in 753, and it would prepare as a fundamental exercise hall of the Ritsu sect in 759.
Now, the Ganjin priest is sleeping.
After Ganjin passes away,Nyoho which was carrying out with Ganjin built the main hall of a Buddhist temple, and Houan who is the pupil built the five-storied pagoda again.
The main hall of a Buddhist temple is the only remained building of the building method of the Tempyo construction of Nara period.
An auditorium is the the only remained building of the building method of the royal palace construction of Nara period.
Principal image bodhisattva Maitreya is laid in inside in state.
Goddess-of-Mercy-with-One-Thousand-Arms (remaining now is 953 although there were 1000 hands in fact).
It is the oldest Goddess-of-Mercy-with-One-Thousand-Arms in Japan, and is also the greatest Goddess-of-Mercy-with-One-Thousand-Arms in Japan of 535.7m of image quantities.


Yakushi-ji
@ In 680 years Emperor Tenmu built temple for which he wished the Empress Unonosararanohimemiko(after Emperess Jitou)'s Sick recovery.
Having completed is 698 years.
It is restored although it has stopped being a calamity and fire of war except the EastTower and the principal image. EastTower,although it is a three-storied pagoda,has MOKOSHI under a roof and six-fold are visible to a tower.
There is a Yakushi Nyorai sedentary statue of the principal image in the main hall of a Buddhist temple, and sunlight and the moonlight bodhisattva are laid in both the sides in state.
The picture of Srimahadevi to which Empress Koumyou is said as the model is the oldest colored picture in Japan drawn on hemp cloth.

Kohuku-ji
@Fuhito Fujiwara,Kamatari Fujiwara's child founded Kofuku-ji in 710.
Kofuku-ji is also the symbol of the power of the Fujiwara family, and priest room of 170 stand in a row on the outskirts. North hall is built for mass for the dead of Fuhito Fujiwara's first anniversary of his death. It was rebuilt in 1210.
The east main hall of a Buddhist temple was built by Emperor Shomu.
It was rebuilt in 1415.
The height of a five-storied pagoda is about 50m. It was rebuilt in 1426.
The Kofuku-ji five-storied pagoda serves as a symbol of Nara.

Genko-ji
Asuka-dera was built at Asuka-mura in 596.
It moved into heijo at the time of the Heijo transfer of the capital in 718, and the name was changed to Genko-ji.
It is the oldest full-scale Buddhism Buddhist temple in Japan by Umako Soga.
There is also the oldest tile in Japan in a roof.
The fivefold small tower with a height of 5.5m currently considered to have been built in the late Nara period.

Kasuga Taisha
It was founded in 768.
There are about 2800 the stone lantern and hung lantern at an approach and a corridor.
the oldest thing is a thing Yorimichi Fujiwara will present in 1038.
If it escapes from an approach, the shrine of skillful red will appear.
God which has ridden on the back of a white deer from Kashima-jinguu (Hitachi country (present Ibaragi Prefecture)) is deified.
Moreover, many deer are kept carefully in Kasuga Taisha.

Kasugayama Primeval Forest
@Since the Heian period, whole Kasuga-yama is becoming the sanctuary in Kasuga Taisha, and hunting and cutting a tree was forbidden.
The nature of Kasuga-yama is maintained with ancient times, without being damaged by people's hand.
It became a natural treasure 1924.

There were registered in 1998.
