Rokuon-ji (Kinkakuji Temple), Jisho-ji (Ginkakuji temple), Kiyomizu-dera, Ninna-ji、Saiho-ji (Koke-dera)、Daigo-ji、
Kozan-ji、the Ujigami shrine、the Tenryu temple、Ryoan-ji、Kyoogokoku-ji (To-ji)、Byodo-in、Nishi-Honganji、
Enryakuji Temple、Kamowakeikazuti Shrine(Kamigamo Shrine)、the Kamomioya Shrine(Shimogamo Shrine)、Nijo Castle.
Kinkakuji Temple (Rokuon-ji)
Although built in 1398, it will be burned down in 1950. However, it was rebuilt in 1955.
The house after Yoshimitsu Ashikaga forsakes the world (mountain villa). It is called
Kitayama palace and they are 3 stories. The whole height is 13.6m. The first floor is
the classic aristocratic mansion style in the second half of Heian period.
As for the second floor, the shoin-zukuri of the Kamakura term and the Goddess of Mercy
image are installed. the third floor is Zen sect Biddhist hole of a Chinese mode style.

Only the Kinkakuji Temple is referred to as having escaped war devastation at the time
of the Onin War.
Ginkakuji temple (Jisho-ji)
It was built in 1489.

Ninna-ji

However, since the auditorium had been burned down by the Onin War, it was revived in 1641.

Koke-dera (Saiho-ji)

Daigo-ji

It is the oldest five-storied pagoda in Kyoto.

planted for Hideyoshi Toyotomi's cherry blossom viewing.
Even now, as for Ryoukaimandala in the first pile of a five-storied pagoda, the thing of

Kouzan-ji
It was opened in 1602.

it has been burned down by the Onin War.
The Iwamiin is the only building which remains from built that time.
The Ujigami shrine
It was built from the second half of the 11th century to the first half of the 12th
century. It is said that it was the shrine which does the guardian deity of Byodo-in as
Uji Myojin at the Heian period. There are an oratory and a main shrine and a main shrine
is the oldest shrine construction in being existing.
It has a big cover called ikkensyaryuu-tukuri, and three buildings are made into one building.
Tenryu temple
It was founded in 1354. In order to perform a memorial service Emperor Godaigo,
Ashikaga Takauji builds. Although burned no less than 8 times, only the garden remained
unburnt. It is famous for CombinationRock which imitated the historical fact of a
"gateway to success".
Ryoan-ji
It was built in 1850.
The famous rock garden has not changed 500 years before.

and the stone of 15 size is placed.Numbers differ and it is visible with the position to

To-ji (Kyoogokoku-ji)
It was founded in 796 and Kuukai named.
Most has been burned down in 1486.

entrance.
Saiji(west temple) will be burned down in 1233.

the oldest in Japan.), are arranged.
A five-storied pagoda will be rebuilt in 1644 and the height of a tower is about 55m.
It is the highest tower in the tower in existing Japan.
The main hall of a Buddhist temple is the building first built in To-ji.

Taishi-do is Kuukai's remains of a dwelling, and Kobo Daishi is deified.

Amitabha hall which is the center of Byodo-in is surrounded by Aji-pond.
Byodo-in and Amitabha hall are equipped with about 16m wing-passage in right and left.
It is called Phoenix Hall from the figure which extended wings. The phoenix made from
gilt bronze is decorated in the roof of this hall. It is famous for drawing 10 yen on
the table of a coin.
Nishi-Honganji (Honganji)
It was built in 1591.
It is head temple of Honganji sect of Jodo-Shinshu.
Since Shinran recited Buddhist invocation faith and reliance upon others and aimed at
propagation to the public, it was called Honganji.
It is the biggest drawing room in the audience room of 203 mats being built in early
stages of the Edo period, and being existing. Since it counted from the founder Shinran

Enryakuji Temple

Shimogamo Jinja (Kamomioya shrine)
The shrine other than a main shrine were built in 1629. the main shrine of an east and
west deify Tamayorihimenomikoto and Kamotaketunominomikoto.
it is called Shimogamo Jinja in order to distinguish from the Kamigamo Shrine.
The Kamo festival (Aoi Festival) which is performed in up-and-down Kamo and which is
transmitted more from ancient times is famous.
Nijo Castle
It was founded in 1603.
Ieyasu Tokugawa builds as a castle where a feudal lord usually resides in the case of
going up to Kyoto.
In the large room of second castle, it is said that Ieyasu had received the announce of
a general.
In 1788 a main enclosure -- although the palace was burned down, A certain main enclosure
reconstructs the palace of the Katsura Imperial family in Meiji now.
15 generation general Yoshinobu,last generals of the Tokugawa receives the announce of
a general here. The intention of Restoration of the Imperial rule was expressed to the
next year. Therefore, the Tokugawa Administration starts in Nijo Castle and is said to
have finished with Nijo Castle.
Since the east front gate was a barbican (Yagura gate) from foundation that time,this
castle was not for battles. A Chinese gate is a thing of the time of foundation which has
a Chinese gable in the front and the back.
There were registered in 1994.
